If you are looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you are just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. I love my work. I take a creative and collaborative approach in my practice, researching techniques and information to help you make the changes you desire.
My clinical focus areas include: eating disorders, relationships, anxiety, depression, quality of life improvement, difficult transitions, self esteem, and stress management. I work with adolescent and adult clients. My main theoretical lenses are cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic theory, and emotionally focused therapy. I use a client centered, empowerment model, to help clients change methods that are no longer working in their lives. We use creativity, flexibility and lightness to deal with often complex or difficult issues.
One of my primary areas of focus is binge eating, compulsive eating, and/or overeating, I work with both individuals and in a small group setting to help explore regulation of cues, targeting emotion, developing healthier patterns and coping mechanisms. I incorporate mindfulness and intuitive eating, fine-tuning my approach to be catered fit to each individual client.
I have extensive experience and training working with people struggling with disordered eating. I address body image and exercise concerns. I also help clients gain insight and develop effective coping mechanisms. I have worked in outpatient, partial day treatment, and a hospitalization level of care addressing complexities of eating disorders. With body image I work to develop a healthier relationship with your body. I incorporate body positive principles including: HAES, weight inclusivity, eating for well being, and life enhancing movement.
I have completed multiple years of training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy in Seattle, Chicago, New York, and Portland. Emotionally focused Therapy developed by Dr. Leslie Greenberg, PhD, helps couples seeking greater intimacy, facilitates healing after an affair, and changes negative relational communication problems/cycles. With this approach, couples communicate their emotions effectively, create an intimate secure bond with each other, and heal from past injuries. I have also studied under Dr. Susan Johnson's, PhD, Emotionally Focused Therapy Center in Seattle, Washington and in New York City.
